Revenue Management is a management system that through the optimization of the turnover supports the profit optimization. Another word is “revenue management” and is a component of the yield management. Revenue management has the goal to provide the optimal price at the right time, for the best guest. An often forgotten target is also, the satisfaction of the guests with the price – performance ratio of a provider.
Bianca Spalteholz defines it in her book “Revenue Management” as follows: “Revenue management means controlling of a (room) capacities and prices with the aim of sales and earnings i.e. to increase the number and the value of incoming bookings”.
